Businessman-cum politician Jimi Wanjigi has been unveiled as Safina party’s presidential flag-bearer.

Wanjigi was endorsed as the flag-bearer during the party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC) that took place on Monday at the Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi.

While giving his acceptance speech, Wanjigi thanked the delegates and party for the nomination.

"I want to thank the delegates and party members for the honour bestowed on me as the presidential candidate. With humility, I accept the nomination. Thank you so much,” Wanjigi said.

During the same event, Wanjigi outlined his manifesto in which he mirrored the other presidential candidates’ promise to provide free education up to the secondary school level.

Wanjigi also committed to rebuilding the country that has been ravaged by corruption.

"We commit to take the time to rebuild our country after the flood of corruption and inequity. We will ensure that every Kenyan exercises their right to live a decent and dignified life as enshrined in article 43 of our constitution," Wanjigi’s manifesto read.

Other political leaders from other parties attended the Safina party NDC.

Among the guests at Safina NDC include Deputy President William Ruto, Rigathi Gachagua, Kimani Ichung’wa, Oscar Sudi, Isaac Ruto, among others.

Wanjigi recently ditched ODM through which he wanted to contest for the presidential seat and joined Safina party.
