A notorious fraudster identified as Hussein Fakhruddin Mohammedbhai was nabbed by serious crimes detectives while he was closing a deal on a house he does not own.

Hussein was arrested just minutes from signing a sale on a 3-bedroom apartment in Nairobi’s upmarket Westlands area.

The man was looking to pocket only a measly Sh11 million from the property that is valued at over Sh40 million in the prevailing market rate.

Forensic investigations revealed Hussein had forged the title deed certificate for the property and entered a deal with a real estate company to offload the property on his behalf.

By good luck, the owner of the property caught wind of Hussein’s dubious endeavour and immediately contacted the serious crimes detectives.

Extensive investigations also established that Hussein is a serial fraudster who had already obtained about Sh9 million in a similar scam.

Hussein is currently in police custody for obtaining money by false pretences and forgery.

He shall take a plea at the Kiambu Law Courts on March 18, 2022.

Police are appealing to any individuals who may have fallen victims to Hussein’s fraudulent schemes to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI’s) serious crimes unit.
