Detectives arrested a 32-year-old man who murdered his wife and threw her body in a thicket in Naivasha’s Kongoni area.

Julius Owaka was arrested on Tuesday Naivasha based detectives from the Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Preliminary cybercrime findings linked Owaka to the murder of his wife.

According to the couple’s neighbours in the Duro area, the two had lived together for five years before cracks started appearing on their blissful marriage, causing an irreparable rift.

The deceased only identified as Wanjiru was forced to move out of their matrimonial home and went back to her parents' home just a few kilometres away.

At the beginning of this year, Owaka initiated romantic overtures to the deceased in a bid to rekindle the flames of their once colourful marriage.

Little did she know she was playing into Owaka’s ploy to murder her. She left her father’s home on January 31, 2022, never to be seen alive again.

Her decomposing body was later discovered 9 days after she left her father’s home.

Investigations into her murder began immediately, and the detectives launched a manhunt for her killer.

Owaka was traced to Githurai 45 in Nairobi where he has been hiding since committing the heinous crime.

The detectives conducted a fruitful swoop in the populous estate to flash Owaka of his hideout.

Armed with DNA samples collected from the scene of the crime and Owaka in their custody, police are hoping to conclude their investigations and build a watertight case against him.
