Detectives recovered two video cameras and their accessories that were stolen from the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Zimmerman Parish.

The equipment varnished the other Sunday while the church service was ongoing.

As soon as the church orderlies discovered that the video equipment was missing, they immediately alerted the police via the ‘Fichua kwa DCI' toll-free hotline.

Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau immediately swung into action to bring the culprits to book.

Within no time, the detectives unmasked the mastermind behind the theft and upon further investigations, the detectives found out that a recent convert who had received Jesus in the same church orchestrated the disappearance of the equipment.

The suspect who took off with the two video cameras and their accessories was identified as David Wanyonyi Simiyu who hails from Trans-Nzoia County.

Investigations led the detectives to three men namely Stephen Thuo, Joshua Kulei and Douglas Karanja who deal in stolen electronic equipment at Imenti House.

Apparently, Simiyu sold the two cameras worth about Sh1 million and their accessories to the three men all of which were recovered.

Thuo, Kulei and Karanja were placed in police custody at Muthaiga Police Station as police beefed up the manhunt for Simiyu.

The Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Zimmerman Parish from which Simiyu stole the equipment has said they have forgiven Simiyu according to the bible and welcomed him back to church.
