Deputy President William Ruto, Tracy Wanjiru and Orina Jephanei have presented their papers before the UDA party's National Executive Committee (NEC) for verification ahead of the party primaries.

The two presidential aspirants presented their papers at the Hustlers Plaza on Saturday morning.

Ruto was the first person to walk in and present his papers.

After tendering his papers, Ruto said he pleaded with the NEC to consider him favourably as he goes for the position of the president. The DP expressed his hope for being considered for the position.

“I have pleaded with them to consider me favourably, but I guess it will have to be an objective assessment of all the candidates who present themselves,” Ruto said.

He was followed by the 23-year-old Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student a few moments later.

Wanjiru is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Bio-Engineering.

The UDA presidential candidates were required to produce their original identification cards, nomination fee receipts, original copies of their academic certificates, updated Curriculum Vitae and copies of their passport size photographs.

Another UDA presidential candidate, Orina Jephanei also presented his papers.

After the presentation of their papers, the NEC interviewed the aspirants.

"We have interviewed UDA presidential candidates Deputy President Dr William Ruto, Ms Tracy Wanjiru and Mr Orina Jephanei at Hustler Centre," UDA NEC said.

According to Ruto, the NEC will decide and communicate the outcome of today's events before or during the party’s NDC on Tuesday.

"The NEC will make a decision and communicate to us either before or during the NDC, which I have been informed that we will have on Tuesday. Wish me luck," Ruto said.
