Police intercepted a car at Saba-saba along the Nyeri-Murang’a highway on Monday evening with two female occupants ferrying a consignment of bhang.

The vehicle was transporting the consignment from Busia to an unknown destination via the longer Nakuru-Nyahururu-Nyeri-Murang’a highway in a bid to avoid being detected.

The police were acting on a tip-off from a concerned member of the public who contacted them through the ‘Fichua kwa DCI’ toll-free hotline.

Before being apprehended, the ladies engaged the police in a dramatic chase that seem to have come out straight from a Hollywood movie, making the Transnational and Organised Crimes (TOCU) detectives have to break a sweat to keep up.

The lady who was behind the Toyota Wish exhibited exemplary driving skills and evasive manoeuvres while fleeing the long limbs of the law and evading police roadblocks.

Upon being literally stopped on their trucks, a quick inspection of the car revealed over 6 sacks packed with stones of bhang neatly arranged.

The two ladies who respond to the names Caroline Mariwa and Nancy Wangare were immediately put in custody and their vehicle impounded with their consignment.

They were later processed for arraignment in court on Tuesday.
