Police have arrested a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old minor in Langas, Uasin Gishu County.

The KDF Private identified as Elly Kipkoech is said to have waylaid the minor, a class seven pupil at a local primary school in Eldoret town and molested her sexually.

The minor got home late on Saturday night at around 7:30 narrated her ordeal to her worried mother.

She disclosed the suspect who defiled her held her hostage.

A further inspection by the victim’s mother revealed bloodstains on her daughter’s undergarments.

The distraught mother pleaded with the victim to reveal the identity of the perpetrator of the beastly act.

The mother and daughter filed a report and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives based in Eldoret put their digital and forensic knowledge to work and traced the suspect who was found hiding at Green Park Estate.

Kipkoech was arrested, placed under police custody and processed for court-martialing.

A battery of medical tests was conducted on both the suspect and the victim at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital as part of the investigation.

The DCI has noted the increased incidents of sexual offences and has committed to bringing any perpetrator to book regardless of their social status.
