Former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu is in mourning following the death of his mother Monica Njeri Waititu after ailing from Diabetes for many years.

Waititu announced on Friday that his mother passed away last Sunday and he remembered her as a loving mother, grandmother who took care of more than her children and relatives.

“My mother Monica Njeri Waititu breathed her last on Sunday February 20th 2022.

A loving mother to my siblings and I and doting grandmother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren, mum didn't just raise me and my 14 siblings, her doors were always open to extended family, friends and even strangers,” said Waititu on social media.

In his post on social media, the impeached Kiambu governor revealed that her mother Njeri had lived with diabetes for more than 39 years by the time of her death.

“Having lived with diabetes since 1982, my mother fought many health battles. But her positive attitude, discipline and God's faithfulness carried her through the challenges,” Waititu said.

She died at the age of 93 and Waititu expressed gratitude for her life and sacrifices.

“As a family, we really appreciate the many years God gave us with our matriarch. We are grateful for 93 years of her life and the many sacrifices she made to raise us.

“Fare thee well to the most loving, generous, selfless, prayerful and patient person I was honoured to call mother. Heaven has surely gained an angel.”
