At least four suspected Al Shabaab operatives stormed into Fino Hospital in Lafey, Mandera County and abducted medics Friday evening.

Mandera County Commissioner Onesmus Kyatha confirmed the incident and said they are doing everything possible to rescue the doctor.

According to police, the assailants the gunmen came in and walked out with three medics; two Kenyans and a foreign national.

When the militants reached the Kenya-Somalia border, they released the two Kenyans and went away with the doctor of foreign nationality into Somalia.

The authorities are yet to understand the reason behind the return of the two medics.

The hospital attackers also took with them medical supplies and equipment.

The attack comes two days after the former driver of Mandera County Governor Robow Issak was found guilty of aiding and abetting the abduction of two Cuban doctors Landy Rodriguez and Herera Correa, on April 12, 2019
