The bandits ambushed the school but at Chesuman along the Tot-Arror Road in Kerio Valley, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The bandits first shot the driver of the school bus before opening an indiscriminate fire on the bus, causing injuries to students and their teachers.

Two teachers are in critical condition after suffering multiple gunshots during the incident.

According to the Elgeyo Marakwet Police Commander Patrick Lumumba, 15 students were rushed to various health facilities, including Mogil, Chesongoch, and Arror health facilities for emergency treatment.

Other victims who sustained serious injuries were referred to Kapsowaar Mission Hospital.

“Recovery efforts are ongoing and the students have been taken to various health facilities in Kerio Valley and those with serious injuries referred to Kapsowar Mission Hospital,” Lumumba said.
