Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka is dead.
Kabaka died at Nairobi Hospital where he was receiving urgent medical treatment after collapsing at an establishment in Kilimani.
The senator was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) by managers at the residence after complaining of headaches.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua claimed he died from effects of a stroke due to a blood clot that he had been battling for a while.
Kabaka was admitted to ICU on Friday after he collapsed in the company of a female, a secondary school teacher, in Kilimani.
The court freed the woman, Esther Muli Nthenya, on Wednesday on a personal bond after tests confirmed Kabaka had not been poisoned.
No charges were preferred against her but Nthenya was ordered to report to Kilimani Police Station every 14 days.
A host of politicians have sent their condolences to Kabaka's family over his demise. Here are some of the messages:
Sen. Kabaka was a great lawyer. An exceptionally bright student (class mates) and was the only student from EQUATOR HIGH SCHOOL in Thika to have made it to law school...— Ahmednasir Abdullahi SC (@ahmednasirlaw) December 11, 2020
