Four rogue Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers charged with violently robbing a man they abducted at the Nextgen Mall have been freed on a Sh300,000 cash bail each.

The four were accused of robbing one Vincent Onyango Odembo of $2,400 after emptying his Mpesa account, which had Sh40,000 on February 6.

The four namely Corporal Tom Omondi Otieno, Anthony Muvaka Mwanza, Cornelius Stephen Wambua and Kennedy Omondi Odero appeared before a Nairobi court on Monday.

The victim identified the four in a parade after finding the vehicle they used in their operations parked at Akila Police Station where he went to report the case.

He immediately rushed to the DCI headquarters and reported the incident and his discovery.

An investigation was immediately launched and the four were apprehended.

The DCI affirmed such officers will face severe consequences and they are just a few isolated cases in the force.
