ODM leader Raila Odinga’s aide, Silas Jakakimba has bowed out of the Langata Parliamentary race.

Jakakimba issued a statement announcing he was stepping down on Friday.

He cited emerging critical issues and assignment in the previous months as his reasons for stepping down.

“Due to emerging and critical issues, assignment in the past several months, I have had to skip on my earlier intention to stand for elective public office, including the empty Lang'ata Parliamentary seat,” the statement read.

Jakakimba pledged to support the candidate who will win his party’s ticket in the primaries.

“I will offer all the support to whoever emerges as the Change Movement's candidate,” the statement partly read.

Jakakimba said his desire to serve the people in his current capacity of any other has never waned.

He affirmed he will continue playing his role in Raila’s secretariat to ensure his win in the August general election.

“I will continue playing my role at the Raila Odinga Secretariat to ensure HE Raila Odinga clinches the much-awaited decisive and resounding win on RAOND1 by CoB August 9th, 2022,” the politician said.

Jakakimba is the second person to drop out of the Langata parliamentary race after another aspirant Jaoko Oburu dropped his bid in January.

His exit from the race now leaves Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, Fredrick Ndege alias Sirikal and Oscar Omoke as the aspirants seeking to trounce the incumbent MP Nixon Korir for the seat.
