Detectives in Nyali intercepted and impounded two vehicles that were used by a criminal gang a few days ago in their operation around Nyali.

The detectives intercepted those vehicles on Wednesday.

The criminals in question broke into a Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) Toyota Prado parked at Nyali City Mall and stole items worth over Sh700,000 before disappearing.

The detectives retrieved CCTV footage from the mall’s surroundings and used the information to track down the perpetrators of the crime.

Detectives intercepted impounded the two vehicles on different occasions and locations.

They later established that the vehicles were hired separately hired and were in use for personal and legal reasons.

Preliminary investigations discovered that on the material day of the crime, the two vehicles were hired out to two individuals who turned out to be felons.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned the concerned care hire agencies to their offices as investigations continue.

A serious manhunt for the criminals is still ongoing.
