The Governor for Meru County Kiraitu Murungi has congratulated the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Peter Munya on his decision to drop his gubernatorial ambitions and maintain his public service portfolio.

Kiraitu thanked Munya as he revealed that the CS was his main competitor.

“For me as governor who was expecting him as my main competitor, I must say congratulations and thank you to him. It makes my work easier,” Kiraitu said.

Kiraitu also disclosed that his team had planned an elaborate campaign because this would be his last shot at an elective position.

“We had planned a very elaborate campaign and you have heard me say before because this is going to be my last campaign. I was going to throw everything into it to ensure that I win again. So if my brother has made my life easier then this is a gift to me from God,” Kiraitu added.

Kiraitu promised to work together with Munya as an opportunity had been presented for them to work without stress and make the County great.

"So I want to thank him and promise him that we are going to work together. This gives us an opportunity to work without stress and make Meru great," he said.

He urged Munya’s supporters to join him and work together with him to promote Meru.

"I would like to urge all those who were his friends, including those who have been very much against us. Let them come, we work together we promote Meru," the governor said.

“Even the bible says there is a time and a season for everything under the sun, so we are ready to work, including with the CS himself and his supporters and we have no conditions.”
