Ababu Namwamba has been appointed the Head of International Relations for Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential campaign.

Namwamba’s appointment was made my the Director of Communications for Ruto’s campaign secretariat Hussain Mohamed on Wednesday.

Hussein termed Namwamba as a high-profile lawyer and human rights advocate.

Ruto said he values Namwamba’s leadership, experience, focus and empathy based on their 10-year close relations.

“We have worked closely with Ababu over the past 10 years on many fronts and I have come to value his leadership, experience, focus, and empathy,” Ruto said.

Ruto said he was confident in Namwamba’s role in leading International Relations within his presidential campaign and was grateful to have him in his team.

“I could not be more grateful to have him in our campaign team. With his considerable diplomatic talents, deep knowledge of the continent, strong network on the global stage and unwavering determination, I am confident in his role, leading international relations within my presidential campaign,” Ruto added.

Namwamba was the Member of Parliament for Budalangi Constituency before being appointed Minister for Sports and Young affairs.
