Popular media personality and comedian Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o has finally quit Kiss FM to focus on his Langata Parliamentary seat aspiration.
Jalang’o said he was about to begin another chapter of his life in politics. He said his ambition to become a politician was a calling.
"The curtain call falls on me today and… as I begin a new chapter officially to go and try my hands in politics. This is a calling I really feel that after being told for a very long time that “the young people your time is coming,” alright, we are not young anymore and if we waited any much longer the time that we were being told that is coming, that is when we shall be leaders would have passed," Jalang’o said.
Jalang’o announced his departure from Radio on Wednesday during the morning show he has been co-presenting with Kamene Goro.
He gave a long and moving farewell speech in which he thanked a number of people who supported him in the journey of being a radio presenter.
Among the people, Jalang’o was grateful for include the Radio Africa Group CEO Patrick Quarcoo, for offering him the platform to thrive and for being a friend.
“I want to send a few thank yous, definitely to the boss and CEO of this place who has always been a friend and a brother and has always opened these doors for me even when things look really dark on my side. Mr Patrick Quarcoo I will never ever forget. He gave me my first chance in radio, you did it again and I know you can always do it anytime for me,” the presenter said.
He also thanked the MD Martin Kafafa, the HR Jemima and all the other colleagues at Kiss FM across the ranks.
“I want to take this opportunity to just thank every single staff that we interact with every morning from the guys at the reception, our cleaners…everyone who sits in the newsroom for the support you’ve given me this far,” Jalang’o said.
Jalang’o said his next move would need his full focus therefore he had to quit radio.
He indicated he will vie for the Langata parliamentary seat on an Azimio la Umoja Ticket after bagging the party’s nominations, which will pitch him against the likes of Silas Jakakimba before finally battling out with the incumbent MP Nixon Korir.
“For the next month it’s gonna be battle for the ticket, which I hope to get to represent Azimio as the ticket holder and go head-to-head with the incumbent,” Jalang’o declared.
