The Court has freed Migori County Assembly Speaker Boaz Okoth and seven other individuals on a Sh200,000 bond each.

They were arrested on Wednesday for breaking into Migori County Chief Finance Officers' office.

Okoth was released on Wednesday after spending almost the whole day at the police station recording his statement on a Sh50,000 cash bail.

According to Migori County Police Commissioner Mark Wanjala, Okoth was released on account of ill health while the other accused remained in police custody.

"The issue of the County Assembly Speaker, the case has been investigated and is ready for court tomorrow. So due to his health, he has been released on a cash bail of Sh50,000," Wanjala said.

Okoth and his accomplices will answer to charges related to malicious damage to property, breaking and stealing from the finance office because they took away files and other items.
