The Speaker for the Migori County Assembly Boas Okoth has been arrested alongside other individuals.

Okoth was arrested for allegedly breaking into the County Assembly Chief Financial Officer’s (CFO) office on Wednesday at around 3 am.

The Migori County Police Commander Mark Wanjala confirmed the incident.

Wanjala said they received a report at the time that Okoth and seven other accomplices had broken into the Chief Finance Officer’s office and were in the process of transferring files to Okoth’s office.

When they realised police officers were upon them, they locked themselves in Okoth’s office until Wednesday 8:00 am when they opened and were immediately apprehended.

According to Wanjala, the police recovered a bunch of files and several computers that were taken from the CFO’s office.

Okoth and his co-accused were taken to Migori County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices where their statements were taken.

Investigations are ongoing into the incident and police are looking to establish the reason for the team breaking into the CFO’s office as they wait to be arraigned to court.
