Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru locked horns in a spat during a ‘Kenya Kwanza’ rally at Nairobi’s City Park on Tuesday.

Trouble started brewing when the crowd jeered and heckled Wanjiru while she was speaking during the rally.

A video clip that has since gone viral across social media platforms shows Wanjiru confronting Sakaja at the podium.

Wanjiru accused Sakaja of inciting the crowd against her, an allegation Sakaja did not address.

She said they were both leaders in Nairobi and therefore deserve respect.

“I deserve respect, we are both leaders here in Nairobi,” Wanjiru said.

However, Sakaja appealed to the crowd to stop the jeering and give all the candidates an occasion to sell their ideas.

“Everyone has a right to be listened to, please let’s stop this,” Sakaja appealed.

Sakaja and Wanjiru have both expressed their interest in becoming the next governor for Nairobi County.

Other gubernatorial aspirants include Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi, Ann Kagure, and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce President Richard Ngatia.
