Ida Odinga has issued a statement withdrawing the remarks she made to NCCK on Saturday asking the council to regulate the churches under them.

Ida acknowledged her comments did not augur well with a section of the public, particularly members of the church.

“It has come to my realization that my comments haven't sat well with some members of the church,” Ida said.

She apologised for the discomfort her comments might have caused and vouched they were not meant to cause harm to any person.

“I sincerely apologize for the discomfort caused as I meant no harm to any person,” Ida said.

Ida said a section of the media merely blew her position on the training of the clergy out of proportion and context.

She, however, reiterated her stand on the importance of training preachers in the country.

“I reiterate that training only makes the service of preaching better and promotes the ministration of the word of God,” Ida added.

She affirmed her dedication to promoting the growth of the church space for a better society in Kenya.
