A 31-year-old teacher from Makueni was arrested for publishing fake news through a fake Facebook account.

Jeremiah Mwavuganga Samuel, a teacher at Musiini Primary School, was arrested at Makutano Shopping Centre in Nzaui.

Mwavuganga published some inaccurate information announcing the alleged death of Nancy Macharia; the Teachers Service Commission CEO.

"Breaking news NANCY MACHARIA IS DEAD Her body has been found in oyuu's bed.it is alleged that Oyuu madad her after she failed to kiss his ass R.I.P macharia....oooh it was just a dream.May it be SOM," he wrote.


His arrest followed an extensive forensic analysis by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Criminal Research and Intelligence Bureau detectives, which identified him as the suspect.

Police recovered the handset Mavuganga used to commit the crimes before being escorted to the DCI headquarters where appropriate charges are being preferred against him before being arraigned in court on Monday.

The DCI passes a stern warning to those who misuse social media platforms by authoring misleading messages, aimed at causing abject humiliation, blackmailing, defrauding and any such information that is punishable by law.

Such contemptible conduct will be investigated and perpetrators brought to book.
