This comes a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a temporary prohibition on scrap metal trade in the country.

The discovery follows a thorough investigation by a taskforce charged with probing the circumstances that led to the monumental power outage that plunged a large part of the country into darkness.

It emerged that the outage was caused by the collapse of high voltage power towers at the hands of vandals.

The Interior CS Fred Matiang’i led high-level team has unearthed a syndicate that targeted KPLC’s infrastructure.

10 senior KPLC officials have already been arrested over the matter and the investigation is gathering momentum as the president directed that legal action be taken against offenders found guilty of vandalising KPLC infrastructure.

He termed their action as economic sabotage and a threat to National Security.
