Businessman Jimmy Wanjigi has been arraigned at Milimani Law Court.

Wanjigi was arrested on Tuesday and taken to Kamukunji Police Station, Nairobi where he spent the night in police custody.

He was arrested for alleged conspiracy to commit a felony namely forgery of a title deed for land on which his Kwacha House building was built.

Wanjigi was accused together with other individuals, including his wife Irene Nzisa.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) wanted Wanjigi and his wife to be prosecuted for obtaining money by false pretence and the conspiracy to defraud.

The land fraud unit of the DCI forwarded an inquiry file to the Director of Public Prosecution last December preferring charges against Wanjigi, Nzisa and other individuals for obtaining Sh56 million from Kenroid Limited by false pretence, claiming they were in a position to sell the property.

Wanjigi was arrested despite having obtained a court order barring his arrest and his wife’s.

He was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after a 20-hour siege at his office in Westlands.
