Kenya had banned all inbound and transit passenger flights from the Dubai for a period of seven days.

The ban that was effective Monday midnight and was the in retaliation to a similar ban Dubai imposed on Kenyan passenger flights last year December.

According to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Director-General Gilbert Kibe, KCAA is in talks with Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) over the matter but meanwhile, the Kenyan government has decided to respond with the same gesture.

"The talks have been happening and are still ongoing, but we are doing this in reciprocation of the similar ban. This is what the government has decided to do," Kibe said.

DCAA cited instances where travelers from Kenya tested positive for Covid-19 after they arrived in the UAE even though they had negative test results from Kenya.

It is suspected that some unscrupulous individuals in within the Ministry of Health work in cahoots with some travelers to process negative results be certificates.
