A young woman aged 21 is on the run after stabbing her two sons at Kianderi village in Kiharu, Murang’a County on Sunday afternoon.
The woman identified as Nancy Munjiru attacked her sons using a knife and fatally stabbed her 2-year-old son to death and left the other 4-year-old son with serious wounds.
Screams and wails for help drew the attention of the boys’ uncle who went to find out what the commotion was all about only to find the younger nephew dead on the bed and the older nephew writhing in excruciating pain.
Munjiru had stabbed her sons in the abdomen and the cause of her attack was yet to be established.
The boys’ uncle; Benson Kiarie alerted the neighbours to the emergency and they rushed the 4-year-old boy to Muriranja Hospital for emergency care before he was referred to Murang’a Level 4 Hospital.

He was admitted and had a successful surgical procedure performed on him to save his life.
Police suspect the incident was a murder-suicide mission as they found a rope dangling from a section of the roof.
They also discovered a blood-stained knife, which they believe to be the murder weapon used by the suspect.
The body of the deceased lies at Muriranja Hospital Mortuary as police are still continuing with their investigations on the incident.
A manhunt for the suspect who is on the run is still on course as police seek to find answers to her heinous act.
