Two people have been confirmed dead and several houses razed down by fire following a night attack at Juhudi Marafa in Kibaoni, Mkunumbi ward, Lamu County.

Unknown attackers descended on the area with heavy gunfire and acts of arson.

The events forced residents of Salama, Widhu and Juhudi in Majembeni to spend the night in the cold after fleeing their homes.

Some had to spend their night at public amenities such as markets and schools in the area, while others opted to go into the forest.

This comes barely a week after another similar attack that left six people dead in the same area and several houses burnt down by the attackers.

The government imposed 30-day dusk till dawn curfew in the area affected by the terror-style attacks.

So far, nobody has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but it is feared it could be related to the infamous terrorist outfit; Al Shabaab.
