Chaos erupted in Parliament during Wednesday’s special sitting where Members of Parliament were voting on the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

As the legislators were voting on Alice Wahome’s amendment Clause six which seeks to provide for procedures to be followed for the registration of coalition political parties, Kipsengeret Koros rose to vote on behalf of an absent MP.

The move was opposed strongly by leader of minority in Parliament John Mbadi.

According to Mbadi, he asked Koros to leave however, Koros insisted on voting on behalf of the absent MP even after being cautioned by clerks against it and that is when the fisticuffs ensued.

Mbadi said instead of backing down, Koros charged at him and bit his finger.

"When I told him to leave then the member charged at me and he actually bit my finger," Mbadi said.

Thereof Suba South PM got involved with Koros in an altercation that also left the Sigowet/Soin MP with and injury on his right eye.

The Speaker during the session Christopher Omulele directed Mbadi to withdraw from the Parliament for gross misconduct and causing disruption to the special sitting.

“Hon Mbadi you are directed to leave the precincts of this House for gross disorder,” Omulele ordered.

Omulele also ordered Mbadi to withdraw from the House for a minimum of five days.

“You are ordered to withdraw for a minimum of five days,” Omulele directed.

The temporary speaker also directed Koros to go have his injuries attended in a hospital.

 “The Sigowet MP was involved in an altercation with Hon Mbadi and he was seriously injured. I direct that he goes to hospital and direction will be given once he is out,” Omulele said.

Nominated MP David Sankok also got a warning from the speaker for allegedly harming a colleague with his crutches while Alice Wahome and Wafula Wamunyinyi also got warned for causing disorder in the House.
