Flashy city lawyer Donald Kipkorir revealed he presided over a fundraiser in support of the then little known lawyer Kipchumba Murkomen's Elgeyo Marakwet County senatorial bid in 2012.

Kipkorir took to his Twitter account to lament that despite his help to Murkomen, the senator has showed him disrespect.

According to Kipkorir, his learned friend showed him the disrespect once he was elected and rose to public prominence after the fundraiser that realised Sh4 million.

"In 2012, when few people knew him, Kipchumba Murkomen asked me to preside Campaign Fundraiser for him which I did & raised 4m. Once elected & risen to public prominence, he has shown me disrespect," Kipkorir said.

In a quick rejoinder, Murkomen responded to Kipkorir's tweet saying he does mind returning "respect" and dismissed the claim as untrue.

"I don’t mind returning respect that’s “bought”from me. I only wish it was true," Murkomen replied.

Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga weighed in on the matter and told Kipkorir that respect is earned and never bought.

"My dear friend Don respect is earned but never bought," Mutunga said.

Kipkorir agreed with Mutunga's comment however, he emphasised one should not damn a bridge they have crossed.

He said one is at liberty to disagree with their mentor but not disrespect them.

"Dearest CJ, I don’t disagree with you on that …. My issue is one that burns the bridges he used to cross the River ….. You can disagree with your mentor but you don’t disrespect," replied Kipkorir.

Kipkorir is closely associated with ODM party leader Raila Odinga while Murkomen is one of the vocal leaders supporting Deputy President William Ruto and his 2022 presidential bid.
