At least seven schools in Baringo North, Baringo County have been closed following recurring bandits attacks in the area that has halted education activities.

The bandits are said to be from the Tiaty Sub-County.

Schools that have been closed include Chepkesin, Kisumet, Chemoe, Kapng'etio, and Tuluk primary schools.

In the latest attack, police cop David Omondi was with his colleague during a normal security patrol when the armed bandits struck.

''There was exchange of fire before we unfortunately lost our officer in the process'', confirmed area police boss Fred Odinga.

Residents are now calling the national government to ensure that this year's candidate's find a conducive environment where they can continue with their studies just like other candidates in various parts of the Country.

According to officer Fred Odinga, the officers are helping locals to repulse a team of bandits who were illegally grazing their animals in the area.
