The national government mulling introduce strict measures in schools to end the menace which has led to the burning and damaging of school properties worth millions of shillings.

Education CS Prof George Magoha and the Interior CS Fred Matiang'i have decried over increased cases of indiscipline among school-going children over the recent months.

Making their remarks during the commissioning of new classrooms at Egetonto Primary School, South Mogirango Constituency in Kisii County, the two CSs said parents need to talk to their children to make them useful members of the society.

Prof. Magoha urged the government to reintroduce caning in schools to handle the increased cases of indiscipline among children.

Magoha condemned the recent incidents of burning schools and urged parents not to abscond from their responsibility.

“We are not bringing up children well and that’s why many cannot handle stress thus resulting in killing each other besides destroying property,” Magoha said.

On his part, Matiang'i appealed to leaders and other stakeholders to sacrifice themselves for the sake of learners and see how discipline can be brought to schools.

“We must have a conversation on parenting and how we can have discipline in schools,” Matiang'i said.

Recently, the government was forced to send students on half term after the various incidents of school fires were witnessed across the Country.
