The Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i paid a glowing tribute to police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Matiang’i was speaking during the third annual memorial service in honour of fallen heroes and heroines.

The ceremony was held at the National Police Service Embakasi A campus.

Matiangi acknowledged the selfless service that was rendered by the departed officers as he commended the bereft families for their bravery after the losses of their kin.

The CS also acknowledged the efforts that the departed heroes rendered to the nation at the expense of their lives and ensuring the safety of Kenyans is guaranteed.

Mating’i reiterated the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes and heroines were not in vain.

The ceremony that is held annually brings together the National Police Service and the Kenya Prisons Service in commemoration and honour of officers who lost their lives while in the line of duty.

Several other dignitaries attended the ceremony including, The Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai, the Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Edward Mbugua, Deputy Inspector General Administration Police Noor Gabou, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Director George Kinoti among other top police commanders.
