Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has deployed its team to Kabete, Kiambu County to obtain information regarding the Tuesday incident where a police officer, Benson Imbasi, went on a shooting spree shooting several people before committing suicide.

IPOA has said that upon conclusion of their investigation, they will make their recommendations to relevant authorities including compensation for the families of the victims.

Further, IPOA has promised to engage the Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai and the Chairman of National Police Service( NPS) to address the increased cases of police deaths and suicide including measures taken to address the mental status of police officers.

The agency has called on all cops to fully use mechanism of addressing issues that are affecting their daily work.

Six people were confirmed dead and two others in critical condition after a police officer went on a killing spree early Tuesday morning around 1 am in Kabete, Kiambu County.

Demonstrations have been held at Kabete, Mountain view area following the killing of six people by the police officer.

The irate protesters questioned the killing of five locals by a Kabete-based police officer.
