The Ministry of Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr Mercy Mwangangi, on Thursday excited residents of Awendo town in Migori County after she sensationally announced that she was looking for a Luo husband.

She made the announcement during the launch of the Kenya Medical Training College, Awendo Campus, which was presided over by ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga.

Her announcement for a suitor was made before e huge crowd that had gathered at the venue to hear what the leaders present had in store for them and her message was received with wild cheers.

Dr Mwangangi at the same time lauded the opening of the KMTC campus and said it was a game-changer that will have a positive impact on the youth from the area with an interest in taking health or medicine-related courses.

She emphasised the importance of the ongoing vaccination exercise saying the jabs were the only proven way to prevent Covid-19.

“Coronavirus is still a threat and it is important that we continue wearing our masks and social distance. The vaccine is also important. We need to avail ourselves at medical centres to get the jabs,” said Mwangangi.

When Mwangangi was finishing her speech, she jested that Raila had made a promise to her that she would get a husband from the Luo-Nyanza region.

“When I accompanied ‘Baba’ here, he promised me that I can get a husband from your region. Give me a husband,” Mwangangi joked.

Her remarks received positive feedback from the crowd, especially the men, who went into a frenzy with some raising their hands, hoping to catch her attention and get picked for the coveted matrimonial position.

On his part, Raila said the campus will provide the relevant skills for the youth from the region aspiring to become health practitioners.
