Police in Kirinyaga County are holding a man who allegedly killed his wife and four children.

Paul Murage Njuki is said to have surrendered to police following the incident last night.

The victims have since been identified as Millicent Muthoni Rungu (38yrs), Gifton Bundi, Nelly Wawira, Sheromit Wambui, and Clifton Njuki.

Police officers have also recovered a slasher and an axe, items believed to have been used to kill the four victims.

Detectives also noticed that one girl might have been defiled before being killed, and one boy had burn marks on the leg.

Police have launched an investigation to establish the motive behind the gruesome murder.
