ODM leader Raila Odinga has urged Kenyans to embrace the need for unity and peace as the nation heads towards the general election.

Raila said Kenyans need a leader who will deal with the increasing corruption and help to improve the dying economy.

“As a nation, we need to embrace unity and exercise tolerance as we head into the campaign period,” Raila said.

Raila made the remark after meeting with various groups of leaders, party officials, elders, and teachers representatives from Kakamega, Bungoma, and Vihiga Counties.

The meeting took place at the home of Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

Raila said teachers working in war tone areas deserve hardship allowances and safety to enable them to discharge their duties fully.

“No society can grow without teachers, they are an integral part of the population of every nation hence the need for proper treatment,” he said.

The ODM leader urged the local MCAs elected on the party ticket to work together for the betterment of the party and its growth.

Today, Raila Odinga will head to West Pokot as he traverses the country popularizing his Azimio la Umoja agenda.
