Kirinyaga women representative Wangui Ngirici has urged Governor Ann Waiguru to respect interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

Waiguru while in Runyenges, Embu county during a political rally called on Kibicho to resign for engaging in politics.

According to the governor, Kibicho has been venturing into politics and openly showing a partisan approach yet he is a government official.

'' It is wrong for Kibicho to take one side of the political divide while working as a civil servant, I want to tell the president that we have many people in Kirinyaga that he can employee and replace Kibicho'', said Waiguru.

In a quick response, Ngirici told Waiguru to respect Kibicho as he has played a critical role in ensuring government development in Kirinyaga county.

''It is clear that both of us are in UDA but it is wrong for Waiguru to call for the sacking of Kibicho, leaders from this region deserve respect,'' said Ngirici.

The two leaders are expected to log horns in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in the 2022 general elections.

Waiguru's defection to DP Ruto's UDA party has complicated the situation as it is not clear how UDA will be able to give the ticket without one feeling aggrieved.

Ngirici who controls a huge base maintains that she will clinch the ticket in a free and fair process.
