The three terrorism convicts who escaped from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison on Monday have finally been captured after a manhunt by Kenyan security forces spreading countrywide.

The prison break three; Musharaf Abdallah Akhulunga alias Shukri, Mohamed Ali Abikar and Joseph Juma Odhiambo alias Yusuf were arrested by police while on the run in Kitui County.

According to information shared by the National Police Service, detectives arrested the escaped convicts in Mwingi East as they were approaching Ukasi area.

The trio was apprehended after the officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) received a tip-off from local residents and acted fast before they could disappear.

The Musharaf, Mohamed and Joseph escaped from Kamiti Maximum Prison under questionable circumstances on Monday in what has left many questions than answers in the minds of many.

On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta sacked Kenya Prisons Service Commissioner-General Wycliffe Ogalo over the jailbreak and replaced him with Brigadier (Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba.

Uhuru further ordered immediate and thorough investigation to be conducted into the prison break and all officers found culpable be suspended and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent.
