National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has defended Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries from attacks by a group of politicians for engaging in politics.

Muturi said just like any other employee, government officials have the responsibility to explain government development programs and should not be ridiculed for carrying out their mandate.

Making his remarks while in Mutomo, Gatundu South, Kiambu County, Muturi said government employees are accountable to Kenyans and must therefore explain government affairs.

Muturi said the CSs and PS should be given the freedom to address their issues.

"They have been given an opportunity to serve Kenyans by the president and are therefore accountable to the people. Let us allow them to explain what it is they are doing as a government," Muturi said.

At the same time, Muturi urged Kenyans to maintain peace for the socio-economic development of the nation.

He also called on politicians to embrace each other regardless of their different ideologies.

He however, condemned the recent incident where the motorcade of DP Ruto was stoned in Kondele, Kisumu County, citing that Kenyans should desist from such kinds of scenarios.
