Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has urged boda boda operators to avoid being used to cause chaos ahead of next year's general election.

At the national boda boda safety awareness meeting,  Oguna said that the sector is significant because of its numbers and also asked the operators to follow traffic rules to reduce the number of deaths through accidents.

This year 1055 boda boda operators have their lives through road accidents as compared to last year where 888 operators lost their lives through road accidents.

The operators have welcomed the call to maintain peace but condemned what they call harassment by police officers.
