Kakamega Boys High School has been closed indefinitely after two dormitories were burnt down at 6 am.

The school principal had earlier confirmed that the incident happened when the students were in class for their morning lessons.

“Today morning at 5.45 am, immediately after the boarding master and teacher on duty put the students in class, we saw some fire from the dormitory,” Orina said.

Kakamega County Police Commander Hassan Barua has said 16 students have also been arrested following the early morning incident.

However, the school principal said no student was injured during the incident.

This comes a day after students at Muhoho High School in Kiambu in Gatundu South, Kiambu County went on strike on the evening of Thursday, November 4.

The students destroyed their dormitories by pelting the windows with stones before threatening to pull down the school’s fence.
