One dormitory at Gendia Boys High School in Rachuonyo, Homabay County has been burned down.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

This comes as Litein Boys High School in Bureti sub-county, Kericho County closed indefinitely after students went on a rampage last night.

Area chief Moses Mutai, the students went on strike to protest over high handedness of the school administration among other complaints.

He said the decision to close the school was arrived at by the school Board of Management and the officials from the Ministry of Education.

Mutai also revealed that the boys were forced to spend their night at the school playground and in the morning they were ordered to vacate the school premises.

 This comes as Buruburu Girls High School in Nairobi closed indefinitely following a dormitory fire and parents were urged to pick their children.

Molo Academy Boys in Nakuru, Kipsigis Girls High School, Kericho Tea, Chemamul, Chebunyo Boys Secondary school in Bomet County, Karima boys and Othaya boys, both in Othaya, Nyeri county. and Kericho High School were closed following cases of student unrest.

The same incident has been seen in Kakamega County where a dormitory at  St. Joseph Indangalasia has been razed down.
