Kiambu Governor James Nyoro and his Nyeri peer Mutahi Kahiga have disagreed with each other over Central Kenya’s 2022 presidential candidate.

Nyoro and Kahiga have disagreed on whether the region should have a presidential candidate in next year's general election, a region that has already produced three heads of state; Jomo Kenyatta, Mwai Kibaki, and Uhuru Kenyatta.

Nyoro, speaking at the send-off of  Mary Njeri Wanjohi at Kiamuiru Catholic church, urged the residents of the region to wait for God’s intervention as currently, the region has no preferred candidate for the president.

Kahiga on his part cautioned the residents of supporting a candidate for selfish reasons instead of giving their support to ODM leader Raila Odinga who president Kenyatta seems to be supporting.

Odinga and Ruto have increased their campaigns in the Mt Kenya region, as the race to succeed President Kenyatta who's serving his final term in the office intensifies.
