The Principal Moi High School Kabarak, Elishebah Cheruiyot, has assured parents that their children are safe and continuing with their studies. 

She was addressing the parents on the matter of the fire that broke out in the institution that burned one dormitory in the school.

In a statement, Cheruiyot said that at the time of the incident, students were in class for evening remedial lessons.

“This evening there was a fire incident in one of the boys’ dormitories in the School. At the time of the incident, students were in class for evening remedial lessons. All our students and staff members are safe and the fire has been contained by firefighters from Nakuru County,” she said.

Rongai Sub-County Police Commander Richard Rotich confirmed that none of the students were injured.

The incident occurred at about 5:30 pm on Wednesday, razing the dorm’s entire roof.

Police in the area launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire however, the cause of the fire is yet to be established.

This comes as police have arrested seven Sigalame High school students in Busia over alleged incitement, and recovered crude weapons.
