Tujibebe Wakenya Party leader William Kabogo has denounced a statement by Mt Kenya Unity Forum led by Gatundu South MP demanding 8 cabinet slots from whoever wins the 2022 General Election.

In a statement, Kabogo delinked the forum from the controversial poster shared on social media platforms by Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria, a member of the forum.

The poster listed the demands for any presidential aspirant to consider before such a candidate can get the endorsement of the Mount Kenya Unity Forum members.

The list by Kuria demanded eight key ministry positions to be reserved for persons from the Mt Kenya region in the next government to be formed after the General Election.

The former Kiambu County Governor said he only recognized the outcome of meetings by the forum held at Serena Hotel and Naivasha, which he said did not make such agreements.

He said no other meeting had been convened by the interim officials hence the demands are regarded as Moses Kuria’s personal opinions and not those of all members of the forum.

“Tujibebe Wakenya Party (JIBEBE) participated in the Mt. Kenya Unity Forum Meetings held at Serena and Naivasha. There have been no other meetings. At neither time during these meetings has it ever been discussed nor agreed that we demand 40% of Cabinet Positions. As there have been no other meetings convened by the interim convener, we can only assume these to be the sentiments of the person whom the poster bears his image,” Kabogo said in the statement.

He faulted the cabinet demands saying such positions do not benefit the entire community.

“We have had Cabinet positions in the past and present that have not helped the region's people but instead only helped the holders of those positions and their families,” he continued.

He also intimated the Mount Kenya Unity Forum will seek the elevation of the region through equitable distribution of resources to be commensurate to its production.

The Kiambu politician said the political outfit wants employment opportunities and creation to be done through better policies for industrialization and better devolution of funds.

He said such demands by Kuria without consultations only breeds disunity in the region.

“Presentation of demands without consultation or consensus and presenting it as the position of the Mt. KUF is dishonest and does not bode well for the unity efforts of our region,” he concluded.

Other forum leaders have however remained tight-lipped on the demands by Kuria.
