Matiang’i said police are following links to any political leaders behind the attack of Ruto’s convoy.

“When I spoke to the regional commissioner we had already arrested five people related to that incident that involved the Deputy President in Busia. And I have asked the security team there to look for everyone who was involved in that organisation even if they are political leaders whether they are elected members of parliament or not I don’t care,” said the vexed CS.

The CS called for the arrest of all parties involves and reiterated that nobody is allowed to disrupt meetings

“Arrested them and take them to court. Nobody is allowed to disrupt meetings and we cannot allow those types of things to happen,” Matiang’i said.

He added that all political players are free to seek support from all over the country and directed the police to act with firmness in countering any acts of lawlessness and political intolerance. Mating’i also said that those kinds of acts landed the country in a quagmire in 2007 and said the government will not tolerate such this time.

“We know what that has done to our country before when we had those kinds of jokes. We started like that in 2007 and you know where we ended. This time around we will not wait and procrastinate. We will act with speed and firmly on all those things,” he affirmed.

While responding to earlier complaints lodged of alleged favouritism, Matiang’i urged the police to show neutrality when handling political gatherings.
