Gilgil based detectives are in pursuit of a criminal gang operating across the country that roughs up members of the public before robbing them.

The dreadful knife-wielding four-man-gang preys on specific victims in isolated areas whom they frogmarch into their vehicle, a Toyota Noah believed to be used with different number plates.

Once they have you in their vehicle, the gang ties you up, blindfolds, robs you of you, then dumps you miles away from your point of abduction.

One such incident happened on Saturday morning at Gilgil where they picked an unsuspecting victim as he was waiting to board a matatu by the roadside.

They bundled him into their vehicle and in their usual modus operandi, tied him up, blindfolded him, robbed him of cash shopping and ATM cards. They forced the victim to reveal his pin numbers before flinging him out of the moving vehicle at Kariandusi.

Concerned passers-by helped the unfortunate fellow before reporting the incident to the police.

The police are asking members of the public to be vigilant and watch out for such gangs and are asking anyone who has any information that may lead to the identification of the miscreants or their vehicle to report immediately to any police station.
