Police officers in Bomet County have nabbed a man suspected to have killed his neighbor over an alleged debt of Sh400.

A report from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has said that Evans Mutai, who owns a shop at Sibaiyan Location was arrested after stabbing Festus Keter on the chest several times.

Confirming the incident, officers have disclosed that the murder suspect later proceeded to do his business as usual as if nothing had happened.

“The incident followed an argument over Sh400 debt, which the deceased owed the shopkeeper. after being stabbed on the right side of the chest, Keter was left for dead outside the shop,” DCI said.

The villager who saw the lifeless body of the deceased is said to have rushed to Chesoen police station to report the matter.

A knife that the suspect used has since been recovered and kept as an exhibit.

Mutai will be arraigned in Court on Monday to answer murder charges against him.

The body of the deceased has therefore been transferred to Longisa hospital mortuary awaiting for postmortem.
