Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Peter Munya have vowed to end the popularity of Deputy President William Ruto in Meru County.

Drumming his support to Raila Odinga, Kiraitu said his party DEP alias Mbus will rebrand and field MCAs, MPs, Governors, Senators and women rep candidates in the 2022 general election.

Kiraitu said his party aims at bringing all leaders from Mt Kenya East and rallying behind leaders who have the interests of the region at heart.

“DEP party needs to rebrand and fuel so that it is on the road by next month. It will fix many seats not only in Mt Kenya East but in the country as well. We will start recruiting grassroots leaders,” said Kiraitu.

On his part, CS Munya has confirmed that PNU has signed a post-election agreement with the Jubilee party.

Chief of staff Gideon Kimathi who intends to vie for the South Imenti seat on DEP, says the party will have a national outlook.

“We will have a party to cater for interests of Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties interests. we must support our leaders. I am serving people under Kiraitu’s administration, but I may also vie because I have whatever it takes,” Kimathi said.
