A man in Bumula, Bungoma county has lost his life in what is suspected to be a case of a love triangle.

The deceased, Titus Wamalwa died on the spot when his opponent Oliver Wafula struck his chest with a knife.

It is alleged that the two were having a conversation about a woman known as Njoki when it escalated into a bitter exchange.

Confirming the incident, Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) George Kinoti said the suspect (Wafula) reached out for a kitchen knife in his house and struck it deep into his opponent's chest killing him on the spot.

"On the verge of defeat, the suspect suddenly reached for a kitchen knife in the house and drove it deep into his opponent’s chest, killing him on the spot," DCI director George Kinoti said.

Kinoti said after the incident, Wafula tried to escape but could not as he had sustained serious injuries.

He was later arrested at Kimwanga market trying to sneak out of the town.
